Wild Wedding – Why?
So, how did we get here? And who are these two goofballs who have decided to share their wild ride on the way down the aisle? Well, where do we begin . . .
Shanny – the bride - I’m just a pretty normal, silly, not-so-prissy chic who is so happy to be getting to marry the love of my life. BUT, I’m NOT one of those girls that has had her wedding planned since she was 12. So, I’m really excited and a little overwhelmed by all these girly things that I’ve never even thought about.
Matty – the groom – I’m just an overly laid back guy who is seeking to be a good father to my son, a good partner to my Shanny and the best follower of Christ I can be. I’m excited to marry my girl and walk beside her on life’s road. In addition to being a father and fiancee, I am also a seminary student, pursuing a Master of Divinity degree in the hopes of leading a church someday.
So, how did we meet? Well, the answer is a little long, so I hope you have a minute.
The FIRST TIME we met was back in college when Matt came on an exchange semester from his college to mine. He lived in the room right above me while he was there and we started dating. I went to visit his school the next semester (which I had already been planning on). So, we dated for about 10 months then. But, after we both went back to our respective sides of the country, we stopped dating.
Flash forward about 11 years. With the help of that evil tool MySpace, Matt and Shan were reunited! What we thought would be a casual “catching up” outing, turned into an astounding flashback to the old feelings. We started to date again and each and every day has been part of a wonderful, wild adventure of getting to know eachother again and finding a love that could only be from God.
This blog will not be a preachy one. But it is important that you know that there is nothing in this world as profound as finding someone and knowing that God was thinking about you when that person was made and designed them to be a partner for you, for whatever precious moments you get to spend on this Earth together.
Whether or not you believe in God, we encourage you to seek to love more, support more, treasure more and forgive more in regards to those around you, as we will seek to do the same on our wild journey together.
